Over the summer, the Lottery novice said that she was out with family at Quincy's Bar & Grille in Gaithersburg - a place they regularly frequent - but on July 19, they did something different.
At the urging of her family, the woman said that she was coaxed into purchasing a $2 ticket for the drawing after being initially reluctant.
This week, Lottery officials said that sure enough, she later returned to the restaurant to check on the ticket and was stunned when she realized that she was a newly minted millionaire.
The woman said that it might be a one-and-done situation, and despite the big win, she's not sure she will try her Lottery luck again.
She added that with her winnings, she plans to stash the cash and invest, with some earmarked to allow her to go to law school in the future.
